On 12 June 2026, Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, had discussions with Mr. Mohammed Abdiker, Chief of Staff of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), on the occasion of the latter’s visit to Thailand to attend the IOM's Asia-Pacific Regional Leadership Meeting.

Both sides discussed cooperation between Thailand and the IOM in taking care of and providing assistance to migrants, including victims of trafficking in persons in the context of online scams. The IOM Chief of staff commended Thailand on the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM), and in its role as a GCM Champion Country. The IOM side expressed its readiness to continue to support Thailand in this regard.

The IOM Chief of Staff also introduced Ms. Tanja Pacifico, Chief of Mission of the IOM Country Office with Coordination Functions (COCF) for Thailand and the Lao PDR, who presented her credentials to officially assume her duty.
