On 7 May 2026, Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with H.E. Mr. Zaw Zaw Soe, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Thailand.

Both sides followed up on the outcomes of the recent visit to Myanmar by H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, on 21 - 22 April 2026, especially on the promotion of trade and border security, investment, addressing transboundary environmental issues, and flood prevention in border areas. The Ambassador of Myanmar provided updates on the latest political developments following the formation of the new government and reaffirmed Myanmar’s readiness to advance bilateral cooperation with Thailand in various areas. He also conveyed Myanmar’s support for Thailand’s role in helping build bridges between Myanmar and ASEAN. The Thai side welcomed the recent positive developments and expressed hope for further positive progress in the future.
