The Department of International Economic Affairs and members of Thai diplomatic misisons abroad discussed development and promotion of Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) highlighting on infastructure projects, emerging industrial clusters in health, digital and logistics as well as plan to attract more foreign investment and cooperation, in the consultative meeting with EEC Office.

On 1 February 2021, the Department of International Economic Affairs held a consultative meeting between MFA and the Eastern Economic Corridor Office to receive update on the progress of Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) project as well as discuss EEC’s future development in 2021. Members of Thai diplomatic missions abroad also participated in the meeting via video conference.

Dr. Luxmon Attapich, Deputy Secretary-General of the EEC Office briefed participants on progress of EEC’s key infrastructure projects and highlighted 3 emerging industrial clusters that build upon Thailand’s strengths in health, digital, and logistics industries, and will attract more invesment in the post COVID-19 era.

In addition, the EEC Office also reiterate the promotion of the national agenda, Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economic Model, for sustainable development in the EEC.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Department of International Economic Affairs, has pushed forward Thailand’s economic diplomacy by working closely with the EEC Office to attract foreign investment and strengthen cooperation with international partners to drive the EEC which is key for Thailand’s economic growth.
