On 17 February 2026, H.E. Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, presided over a brainstorming session to advance Thailand’s economic diplomacy in innovation, digital technology, and startup promotion in Europe. The session was co-organized by the Department of European Affairs, the National Innovation Agency (NIA), the Board of Investment (BOI), and the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA). Thai Ambassadors, Consuls-General, and representatives from Royal Thai Embassies across Europe participated and shared their insights via an online platform.

The meeting discussed priority actions to expand business and innovation partnerships between Thailand and European countries. This included enhancing opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs and startups in Europe, strengthening capacity building for Thai innovators and enterprises, and further developing Thailand’s innovation and digital economy ecosystem. These efforts are in line with Thailand’s economic diplomacy policy aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of Thai enterprises.

Thailand aims to promote innovation-driven investment in key sectors such as agriculture and food, energy, environment, electric vehicles (EV), artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, creative industries, and medical services. Plans are also underway to establish a Digital Valley within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) and to develop digital industry clusters in Bangkok and other regions. These initiatives are intended to attract foreign investors, particularly from Europe, to invest in these designated areas.
