On 28 October 2021, Dr Paradorn Rangsimaporn, Minister-Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission of the Royal Thai Embassy in Nur-Sultan, was kindly invited by Associate Professor Ikboljon Qoraboyev to give a talk on “Exploring Greater Engagement between Central Asia and Southeast Asia” to the students studying for the Bachelor’s degree in International Relations at M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University, which is one of Kazakhstan’s leading universities. The talk highlighted the trade and investment opportunities between the countries of the two regions. This includes the utilisation of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, which has helped expand the opportunities for trade and the transport of goods between them, as well as the growing interest from the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which includes Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus and Armenia, in expanding economic cooperation with ASEAN countries.
