H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a virtual meeting with H.E. Mrs. Jutta Urpilainen,
European Union Commissioner for International Partnerships on 18 November 2021.

Their discussion focused on promoting both bilateral and regional cooperation. Both sides reiterated the importance of cooperation on the green transition and climate change. They agreed that Thailand’s Bio-Circular-Green Economy Model and the EU’s European Green Deal share common aspirations and provide a strong basis for cooperation going forward on many important issues, such as green technology transfer, climate action, the circular economy, the fight against IUU fishing, ocean governance, and research and innovation. Cooperation in these areas should also be strengthened through ASEAN mechanisms, especially through the ASEAN Catalytic Green Finance Facility (ACGF) and the ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue (ACSDSD).

Both sides also discussed several key issues such as (1) the role of the people, in particular the youth, in promoting sustainable development, including through organisation of an ASEAN-EU Youth forum; (2) both sides’ determination to conclude the Thai-EU Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) in a speedy manner; and (3) regional issues.
