On 14 August 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, on the sidelines of the 10th Mekong-LancangCooperation (MLC) Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Anning, China.

The two sides reaffirmed their strong commitment to advancing the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership across all areas as both nations celebrate the Golden Jubilee of 50 years of diplomatic relations.

They looked forward to upcoming high-level exchanges, including the official visit of Chinese Premier Li Qiang to Thailand later this year to co-chair the 5th MLC Summit.

Both ministers welcomed the continued growth in bilateral trade and investment and agreed to enhance cooperation in key sectors such as railway connectivity, digital technology, green energy, and artificial intelligence. They also pledged to deepen security cooperation, particularly in defense collaboration and combating emerging transnational crimes including online scams.

As co-chairs of the MLC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, they also discussed ways to promote tangible cooperation on issues of mutual interest, particularly water resource management.

Regarding the Thailand-Cambodia border situation, Foreign Minister Maris expressed Thailand's appreciation for China's constructive role in supporting peaceful resolution through consultations between the two countries. Both ministers welcomed the positive outcomes of the recent Special Meeting on 28 July 2025 and the Extraordinary General Boundary Committee Meeting on 7 August 2025 in Malaysia, and the importance of effective implementation. They also agreed on the urgent need to advance demining efforts along the Thai-Cambodia border to reduce tension and rebuild trust.
