Minister of Foreign Affairs holds bilateral meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam

On 14 August 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam on the sidelines of the 10th Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

The two sides discussed deepening Thailand-Viet Nam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, including preparations for the 6th Joint Committee on Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) and the Official Visit of the Prime Minister of Viet Nam to Thailand, as well as expanding more trade and investment partnerships.

On the Thailand - Cambodia border situation, Foreign Minister Maris appreciated Viet Nam’s support for Thailand and Cambodia to peacefully resolve the current situation through bilateral consultations.

He gave update about the positive outcome of the Extraordinary General Boundary Committee (GBC) Meeting on 7 August 2025, and Thailand’s commitment to its implementation, which was welcomed by his Vietnamese counterpart. Foreign Minister Maris also stressed the importance of advancing demining along the Thailand - Cambodia border to ensure safety and reduce tension.
