On 5 October 2025, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivered a keynote address at the closing ceremony of the ASEAN for the Peoples Conference (AFPC), organised by the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) under the theme “Advancing People-Centered ASEAN” in Jakarta.

The Foreign Minister emphasised the need for ASEAN to adapt in order to better respond to the needs and genuine participation of its peoples, in line with the ASEAN Community Vision 2045. He outlined three key priorities: (1) sustaining peace and security in the region, while taking into account broader dimensions such as human security; (2) enhancing quality of life through sustainable and inclusive economic growth; and (3) advancing people-centered development and citizen participation in the ASEAN process, supported by mechanisms such as the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR). The Minister also used this occasion to share his vision on key ASEAN and regional issues, while reaffirming Thailand’s readiness to play a constructive role in Myanmar’s peace process, including facilitating engagement among all stakeholders. He further addressed the Thailand–Cambodia situation, a challenge that directly affects people on both sides, urging Cambodia to pursue dialogue and cooperation with Thailand towards peaceful solutions. At the event, the Foreign Minister also had an opportunity to exchange views on current regional trends and situations with H.E. Mr. Marty Natalegawa, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, and Dr. Dino Patti Djalal, Founder and Chairman of FPCI.

The AFPC brings together more than 200 civil society organisations across ASEAN to advance the vision of a people-centered ASEAN. It serves as a platform for constructive exchange and collaboration on issues that directly impact the lives of Southeast Asians. The closing ceremony was attended by over 1,500 participants.
