On 5 - 6 October 2025, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, paid a Working Visit to Jakarta, Indonesia, the first visit of an ASEAN country after the Foreign Minister took office.

During the visit, the Foreign Minister delivered a Keynote Address at the closing ceremony of the ASEAN for the Peoples Conference (AFPC) on 5 October 2025. The APFC brought together over 200 civil society organisations from across ASEAN to advance the vision of a people-centred ASEAN Community. On 6 October 2025, the Foreign Minister presented the Royal Thai Government’s financial contribution to the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre) to support humanitarian assistance and recovery efforts in Myanmar following the recent earthquake. The Minister also held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Sugiono, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, to strengthen bilateral cooperation following the elevation of Thailand–Indonesia relations to a Strategic Partnership. The two sides also exchanged views on key regional issues, including the situation in Myanmar and the Thailand–Cambodia border situation. Before departing, the Foreign Minister met with representatives from Thai government agencies and the Thai private sector in Indonesia, to emphasise their collective role in expanding Thailand’s trade and investment opportunities.

This visit, in addition to the high-level discussions to strengthen the bilateral relationship with Indonesia, also reflected Thailand’s support for humanitarian assistance to neighbouring countries affected by natural disasters, as well as the Foreign Minister’s policy guidance to Thai government agencies and private sector representatives to jointly advance Thailand–Indonesia relations. Very importantly, the Foreign Minister’s keynote address at the AFPC further serves as a statement of his, and Thailand’s, vision, perspectives, and key policy priorities within the ASEAN and the broader ASEAN framework.
