Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs to attend the High-level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81 High-level Week) at UN Headquarters, New York

H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkaew, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, is scheduled to accompany H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, to attend the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81) during High-level Week, from 21-24 September 2026, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, United States.

During High-level Week, the Prime Minister will deliver a national statement on behalf of Thailand in the General Debate and have bilateral meetings with senior United Nations officials and leaders of various countries. As for the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, he will also meet with representatives of international organizations and Ministers of Foreign Affairs of several countries, deliver a keynote address at the Asia Society, a leading academic institution in the United States, as well as attend meetings and side events on a number of key global issues.

The participation of the Thai delegation to UNGA this year coincides with the 80th Anniversary of Thailand’s membership in the United Nations in 2026. On this occasion, Thailand will reaffirm its support to the multilateral system with the United Nations at its core and to the promotion of cooperation in the three pillars of the UN agenda: peace and security, human rights and sustainable development. Priority issues for Thailand include accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, cooperation on the global health agenda, humanitarian assistance, as well as reform of the United Nations to address the changing global context.

The UNGA is the largest multilateral forum and most significant gathering of world leaders held annually since 1945. This year, H.E. Mr. Khalilur Rahman, a Bangladeshi national is the President of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (PGA81). The theme of UNGA81 is “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All”.
