On 25 May 2026, Mrs. Urasa Mongkolnavin, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle Eastern and African Affairs, chaired a meeting to follow up on the progress of economic cooperation between Thailand and Egypt following the visit to Egypt by a Thai private sector delegation led by the Director-General in February 2026.

The meeting was attended by representatives from Thai companies who took part in the said visit to Egypt. The meeting took note of updates on the progress of business cooperation arising from the visit in various fields such as aquaculture, construction materials and food products, as well as ways to increase access to Thai goods in the Egyptian market and neighboring regions.

The meeting also discussed challenges faced by Thai businesses. Participants exchanged views on ways to strengthen public-private collaboration in order to further support and promote Thailand’s trade and investment overseas more effectively.

On this occasion, executives from the Export-Import Bank of Thailand also attended the meeting to provide information and recommendations on financial support measures aimed at enhancing the competitiveness and capabilities of Thai businesses operating in international markets.
