On 24 September 2026, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended the Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of the Foreign Policy and Global Health Initiative (FPGH), chaired by H.E. Ms. Éléonore Caroit, Minister Delegate for Francophonie, International Partnerships and French Nationals Abroad, in France’s capacity as the 2026 Chair of the FPGH. The meeting brought together high-level representatives from all seven FPGH member countries, namely Brazil, France, Indonesia, Norway, Senegal, South Africa and Thailand.

The meeting welcomed France’s FPGH Chairship under the overarching theme of the One Health approach, and exchanged views on key global health issues, including Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response (PPPR) and Global Health Architecture (GHA) reform. The Vice Minister underscored the importance of the FPGH’s cross-regional membership, which enables the Group to help bridge diverse views of different countries, including in the negotiations of the Pathogen Access and Benefit-Sharing (PABS) Annex to the WHO Pandemic Agreement and the work of the Joint Task Force on GHA Reform.

The FPGH was founded in 2006 to advance global health diplomacy. Each year, the FPGH submits a draft resolution on a global health issue to the United Nations General Assembly for adoption. Thailand served as Chair of the FPGH in 2017 and 2024, during which resolutions on universal health coverage and health promotion were successfully adopted, respectively.
