On April 19, 2025, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata, in collaboration with SKAL International Kolkata, brought the enchanting Songkran Festival to life in the City of Joy, infusing it with the warmth, tradition, and vibrant energy of Thai culture.

"Songkran is far more than the dawn of a new year; it’s a celebration that embodies the heart and soul of Thailand—colorful, joyful, and rich in tradition," said Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata. The highlight of the evening was the heartfelt "water blessing" ceremony, where attendees participated in the symbolic act of splashing water to invite good fortune, health, and prosperity. This beautiful ritual encapsulated the essence of Songkran, making the celebration a meaningful reflection of Thai values.
