On 4 August 2025, Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, delivered the opening remarks at the “Amazing Thailand Roadshow to India 2025,” organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) at the ITC Sonar Hotel in Kolkata.
The event, which was led by Mr. Apichai Chatchalermkit, Deputy Governor for Domestic Marketing at TAT, brought together 30 prominent Thai tourism businesses, including luxury hotels, tour operators, airlines, theme parks, and destination management companies (DMCs). The roadshow aimed to strengthen strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in Kolkata through tailored business-matching sessions and targeted engagement with the local travel industry.
In her opening speech, Consul-General Siriporn underscored the pivotal role India plays as one of Thailand’s most significant source markets for tourism. She reaffirmed Thailand’s dedication to being the most reliable and trusted partner, committed to working closely with Indian counterparts to co-create high-quality travel experiences that resonate with modern Indian travelers. In particular, she highlighted Thailand's offerings in wellness tourism, destination weddings, and lifestyle travel, areas of growing interest among Indian tourists.
Consul-General Siriporn also extended an invitation to Indian tourism professionals to capitalize on the upcoming Durga Puja and Diwali seasons, encouraging them to promote Thailand as a premier destination for festive travel. She emphasized Thailand’s warm hospitality and vibrant celebrations, noting that this year, Thailand will host the Amazing Thailand Grand Diwali Festival, which is expected to be one of the largest Diwali celebrations held outside India.
The event drew a remarkable crowd of over 100 attendees, primarily key travel trade professionals from Kolkata. This strong participation not only reaffirms Thailand's position as a trusted and preferred destination among Indian travelers but also highlights the immense potential for continued collaboration to deepen market engagement and drive targeted tourism growth in Eastern India.
