The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata, in partnership with Tourism Authority of Thailand, New Delhi Office, made a striking impact at the TTF Kolkata 2025 – Eastern India’s largest tourism trade show. Held from 10–12 July 2025 at the Biswa Bangla Mela Prangran in Kolkata, the event provided a dynamic platform for B2B and B2C networking, showcasing Thailand as a must-visit destination. The bustling Thai Pavilion captured attention with an impressive lineup of premier exhibitors, including Thai Airways International, Dusit Hotels & Resorts, Columbia Pictures Aquaverse, Madame Tussauds Bangkok, SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World, and top-tier destination management companies (DMCs). Together, they offered visitors a glimpse of Thailand’s diverse tourism offerings — from luxury hospitality to thrilling entertainment and unique cultural experiences.
As Guest of Honor at the Opening Ceremony, Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, highlighted Thailand’s tourism vision. She spotlighted the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025” campaign – a flagship initiative aimed at positioning Thailand as a global leader in both tourism and sports. In her remarks, she underscored the importance of the India market, which continues to be one of Thailand’s most significant source of international visitors. In 2024, Thailand welcomed over 2.1 million Indian tourists, followed by more than 1.18 million arrivals in the first half of 2025 – a testament to the deep and enduring bond between the two nations.
Adding to the celebratory spirit, Consul-General Siriporn extended a heartfelt invitation to Indian travelers to join the “Amazing Thailand Grand Diwali Festival 2025” in Bangkok this October. Anticipated to be the largest Diwali celebration outside of India, the Festival will feature grand processions, vibrant cultural performances, and exquisite Thai–Indian Food Festival — a celebration of the rich cultural ties shared by both countries.
Consistently at the forefront of cultural diplomacy, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata has been actively promoting tourism as a key driver of Thailand’s soft power strategy. Through vibrant initiatives like Thai Festivals, Thai Food Festivals, Thai Film Festivals, and strong collaborations with Team Thailand and local partners, the Consulate-General continues to foster mutual understanding and strengthen the economic and cultural bridge between Thailand and India.
