Kolkata, 22 August 2025, the rich aromas and vibrant colours of Thai cuisine filled the air at Spencer’s South City Mall today, as Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, inaugurated the much-anticipated “Thailand Food and Fruits Fiesta 2025.” This lively two-week celebration of Thai food and culture, running from 22 August - 7 September, is a collaborative effort between the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata, the Thai Trade Centre in New Delhi, and Spencer’s.

Designed to bring the essence of Thailand to the heart of Eastern India, the Fiesta aims to showcase the quality, diversity, and global appeal of Thai cuisine, while strengthening its footprint in one of India’s fastest-growing markets. Visitors can explore a colourful array of authentic Thai products, ranging from fresh tropical fruits and crisp vegetables to signature
condiments and beverages, now available across more than 12 Spencer’s outlets throughout Eastern India.

What truly brought the event to life, however, were the cultural experiences that accompanied the culinary showcase. Guests were treated to a live “Pad Thai” cooking demonstration by the Consul-General herself, a traditional Thai dance performance, and interactive sessions that gave visitors a taste of Thailand’s rich cultural heritage. These engaging elements highlighted
Thailand’s effective use of culinary diplomacy, using food as a bridge to connect cultures and foster friendship.

Speaking at the event, Consul-General Siriporn expressed her hope that the Fiesta would serve as more than just a celebration of food: “The Thailand Food and Fruits Fiesta 2025 is a window into the soul of Thai culture. Through this initiative, we aim not only to share our cuisine with Indian consumers but also to deepen the longstanding bonds of friendship between our two nations. We believe this platform can open doors to exciting new opportunities in trade,
investment, and cultural exchange.”
