Acting Director-General of European Affairs Department meets with Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Thailand with residence in Beijing

On 24 June 2026, Ms. Somrudee Poopornanake, Acting Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, had discussions with H.E. Mr. Kārlis Eihenbaums, Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Thailand with residence in Beijing, on the occasion of his presentation of Letters of Credence to His Majesty the King.

The Acting Director-General congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment as the first Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Thailand since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the Republic of Latvia on 19 March 1992. Both sides exchanged information and views on issues of mutual interest with a view to further strengthening bilateral relations, including cooperation in trade, investment, education, innovation, technology, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. They also discussed regional security developments and cooperation in multilateral frameworks.
