On 1 April 2026, Her Excellency Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, held discussions with The Honourable Mark Garnier MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Thailand (APPG for Thailand), at the Royal Thai Embassy in London. The meeting took place during the Permanent Secretary's visit to the UK to attend the 5th ASEAN–UK Senior Officials’ Meeting.
During the meeting, the Permanent Secretary congratulated the APPG’s successful visit to Thailand in September 2025 accompanied by His Excellency Mr. Nadhavathna Krishnamra, Ambassador of Thailand to the UK. Both sides exchanged views on wide range of aspects covering recent bilateral, regional and global developments and the volatile geopolitical and geo-economic landscape.
The Permanent Secretary took the opportunity to highlight the positive momentum of the Thai-UK strategic partnership and specific areas of mutual benefit particularly the prospects for a Thai-UK FTA. The Permanent Secretary reaffirmed the new Thai administration’s policy continuity and readiness to further strengthen engagement and comprehensive cooperation with the UK, noting that the APPG for Thailand serves as an important mechanism for engaging with UK parliamentarians and for further strengthening multi-dimensional ties with the UK.
