On 8 July 2026, Mr. Chulvat Narinthrangura, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), and Mr. Robert de Waha, Head of the Asia Regional Office of the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency (LuxDev), co-chaired the 1st Thailand-Luxembourg Development Cooperation Meeting in Vientiane, Lao PDR. Also in attendance were representatives from relevant Lao agencies as well as the Thai and Luxembourg Embassies in Vientiane.

The meeting discussed ways to promote cooperation between Thailand and Luxembourg in supporting the development objectives of the Lao PDR, with a focus on four key areas: public health, local development, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), and good governance. They also considered Thailand’s proposal on zero-burning agriculture initiative to mitigate the impacts of transboundary haze and promote sustainable development. They agreed to identify one pilot project for implementation, with the objective of achieving tangible results by 2027.

The Luxembourg side invited the Thai delegation to visit development cooperation projects supported by LuxDev in Lao PDR, which are the Tourism and Hospitality Skills Development Center in Vang Vieng, a local development project in Navay Village, and the Maria Teresa Hospital, to exchange experiences and explore opportunities for future cooperation.
