On 22 October 2026, Ms. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, led the Thai delegation at the mock session in preparation for Thailand’s presentation of its national report under the fourth cycle of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) mechanism of the Human Rights Council (HRC), organized by the United Nations in Thailand. The session was attended by representatives of the relevant Thai agencies. Professor Emeritus Vitit Muntarbhorn, international human rights law expert, also observed the session and provided comments on the presentations of the Thai delegation.

The Thai delegation presented progress and challenges on human rights issues, and provided clarifications to issues raised by representatives of the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in Thailand, led by Ms. Michaela Friberg-Storey, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Thailand, who assumed the role of representatives of various UN Member States. The session aimed to enhance familiarity with and understanding of the Thai delegation on the UPR process as a peer-review mechanism for assessing the human rights situation of UN Member States.

Thailand will present its fourth national UPR report on 9 November 2026 during the 53rd session of the UPR Working Group in Geneva, Switzerland.
