On 29 November 2021, Mr. Wongsakorn Chaichana, First Secretary of the Royal Thai Embassy in Nur-Sultan, participated in the Kazakhstan Tourism Workshop organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Moscow, at Luxury Rixos Hotel, Almaty. The Embassy representative gave information on the rules and regulations regarding entry into Thailand during the COVID-19 pandemic to 110 participants of the Workshop from tour companies/agencies in Kazakhstan. The event was also participated by representatives from TAT, Air Astana as well as Exotic Voyage Company. Kazakhstan is a large potential market for Thailand tourism with approximately 60,000 Kazakh tourists visiting Thailand per year before the pandemic. The Embassy has constantly updated the rules and regulations regarding entry into Thailand during the COVID-19 pandemic on its website at astana.thaiembassy.org. Moreover, the Royal Thai Embassy in Nur-Sultan assisted in the reopening process of direct flights from Kazakhstan to Thailand. In August 2021, H.E. Mr. Chatchawan Sakornsin, Ambassador of Thailand, hold talks with Vice President of Air Astana on the opening of the route ‘Almaty-Phuket’ which started to operate two flights a week in November 2021 and, from December 2021, operates daily.
