On 15 June 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo, in collaboration with Wat Thai Norway, organised a merit making ceremony and funeral rites to pay tribute for Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluangrajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita. The ceremony was attended by officials and spouse as well as local staff from the Royal Thai Embassy and the Thai communities in Norway.
Most Venerable Phra Ratwachirasatsanavithes, Abbot of Wat Thai Norway and Chairman of the Union of Thai Sanghas in Europe, as well as Buddhist monks from Wat Thai Norway and Thai temples in Norway and Finland also attended the event.
Before the ceremony began, Her Excellency Ms. Nitivadee Manitkul, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, shared her experiences during Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Krom Luang Ratchasarini Siribajra Mahavajrarajadhida' s childhood when Her Royal Highness studied at Rajini School in Thailand. She also highlighted the royal legacy of Her Royal Highness during her visit to Indonesia.
Ambassador Nitivadee recalled that, while serving as Minister and Deputy Head of Mission at the time, she accompanied Her Royal Highness to a female prison in Jakarta, where she witnessed firsthand Her Royal Highness’s commitment to enhancing the rights and quality of life of female inmates. This initiative later led to the adoption of the “Bangkok Rules,” which was subsequently recognized by the United Nations.
On this occasion, Ambassador Nitivadee conducted a Buddhist ceremony and paid a respect to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluangrajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita.
The Royal Thai Embassy and Wat Thai Norway also arranged a signing on book of condolences in remembrance of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluangrajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita for the Thai community in Norway.
