On 15 December 2023, H.E. Mr. Aisawa Ichiro, Chairman of the Japan -Thailand Parliamentarians Friendship Group, and H.E. Mr. Shiozaki Akihisa, Parliamentary Vice Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare and Secretary-General of the Japan-Thailand Parliamentarians Friendship Group, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, at the sidelines of the ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit for the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation on 14-18 December 2023 in Tokyo.

On this occasion, both sides discussed cooperation on building a network among Japanese politicians, who are “Friends of Thailand”. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs is willing to support the exchange of visits between Thai and Japanese parliamentarians, especially the new generation of politicians, who will help strengthen bilateral relations as a whole.

The Chairman of the Japan-Thailand Parliamentarians Friendship Group thanked the Thai government for its continued efforts to take good care of Japanese investors. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs also acknowledged that Japan is among the biggest investors in Thailand and expressed confidence that Thailand will attract more investments from Japan. The areas that Thailand and Japan can cooperate on include public health and telemedicine. Additionally, the two sides also discussed regional situations.
