On 31 March 2026, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, attended the 5th ASEAN - United Kingdom Senior Officials’ Meeting at Wilton Park, West Sussex, United Kingdom, held on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the ASEAN–UK Dialogue Partnership.
The meeting welcomed the progress of ASEAN - UK cooperation, which has advanced across all areas of cooperation, including political-security, economic growth, environment, sustainable development, and people-to-people connectivity, and agreed to develop a new Plan of Action for 2027 - 2031 to guide future cooperation between the two sides. The Thai side reaffirmed its readiness to advance cooperation in addressing emerging transnational crime, particularly online scams, and underscored the importance of maritime security, especially in the freedom of navigation. Thailand also reaffirmed the importance of taking forward the outcomes of the ASEAN - UK Dialogue on Sustainability, held in Bangkok in February 2026 at Thailand’s initiative, with a view to further advancing sustainable development cooperation. In addition, the meeting exchanged views on regional and international developments. They expressed serious concern over escalating tensions in the Middle East and their implications for global peace, stability, and energy security.
The Permanent Secretary also held a bilateral meeting with Ms. Christina Scott, Director-General Network at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the United Kingdom. They discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and further advance the Thailand–United Kingdom Strategic Partnership, and exchanged views on regional developments of mutual interest.
