Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand reaffirmed close cooperation on public health, response to COVID-19, trade and investment, labour, education, military and security, and ASEAN during a virtual meeting with Acting Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs, Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines.

On 1 February 2021, H.E. Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Ms. Elizabeth Pineda Buensuceso, Acting Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs, Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines, via video conference.

On their first meeting since assuming their respective positions, both sides discussed wide-ranging issues, including COVID-19 situation and health cooperation. They also affirmed determination to continue to promote cooperation on trade and investment, labour, education, military and security, and ASEAN. On this occasion, the Permanent Secretary expressed Thailand’s readiness to host the 6th Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) in 2021, and sought the Philippines’ support for Thailand’s candidatures in international fora.
