On 22 July 2026, Mrs. Chatvadee Chindawongse, Deputy Director-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs, on behalf of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference with Japan, on the sidelines of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings in Manila, the Philippines.
The meeting discussed ways to advance the ASEAN - Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) by promoting greater synergies of cooperation between the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) and Japan’s updated Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP), as well as enhancing cooperation in the areas of the digital economy, cybersecurity, and energy security, particularly clean energy and the transition to a low-carbon society through Japan’s initiatives on Asia Zero Emission Community Platform (AZEC) and POWERR Asia. Thailand underscored the importance of deepening cooperation with Japan in areas of mutual interest and Japan’s active role in supporting peace and stability in the region.
