On 5 September 2023, Mr. Phasit Chudabuddhi, Consul-General to Kota Bharu, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Sanan Pongaksorn , Governor of Narathiwat Province, at the Narathiwat Provincial Hall on the occasion of his assumption of duty as Consul – General. On this occasion, both sides discussed local-to-local potentials to enhance cross-border trade, opportunities for green and cultural tourism between Narathiwat Province and Kelantan as well as challenges from the shared borders, particularly illegal crossings. Moreover, both sides also exchanged views on how to further enhance cooperation in order to better protect Thai nationals from Narathiwat who currently reside in Kelantan and Terengganu, Malaysia.
