On 30 November 2023, H.E. Mr. Paisan Ruphanichkij, Ambassador of Thailand to Mexico, met with Mrs. Gloria Sandoval Salas, Executive Director of the Mexican Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AMEXID), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Mexican States, to present, on behalf of the Royal Thai Government, a donation of 20,000 US Dollars to help victims of Hurricane Otis.  On this occasion, Ms. Gloria Sandoval Salas expressed appreciation on behalf of the Mexican Government to the Royal Thai Government for this contribution, which will support the relief of victims and the reconstruction efforts in the affected areas.

Hurricane Otis, the most intense storm in Mexican history (Category 5, with wind speeds of up to 265 km/h), made a landfall on the Pacific coast of Southern Mexico on 25 October 2023, and caused significant damage to Acapulco, the famous Mexican seaside town in the state of Guerrero. Many hotels, shopping centers, and beach resorts, as well as essential infrastructure and communication systems were severely damaged, whereas more than 250,000 houses were also affected.  48 deaths and 24 missing persons have been reported.
