On 11 May 2023, H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, together with Mr. Monsak Jangariyawong, Minister Counsellor, welcomed a delegation of Thai medical practitioners who attended SIDCER-FERCAP Global Fellowship (SFGF) Program, led by Professor Dr. Juntra Laothavorn, Chair of the SIDCER-FERCAP Foundation, and 10 medical practitioners from Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, School of Medicine Mae Fah Luang University, Roi Et Hospital, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration General Hospital, and Chonburi Hospital. The delegation attended the training program on medical ethics in human research from 1-12 May 2023, which is a part of the cooperation with the University of Oslo which continues for the second year.

On this occasion, the Ambassador exchanged views with the delegation about medical ethics in organ culture and transplant and was informed about technological advancement of organ culture by using stem cells in many Asian countries including China, Japan and South Korea. The said technology can lead to ethical issues in human research and the need to amend relevant laws and regulations. In preparation for the future adoption of technology relating to organ culture and transplant, Thailand can learn from the experiences of Norway, with Norway’s advancement in this field.

The Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo supports medical cooperation between Thailand and Norway, particularly the exchange of knowledge and best practices, including cooperation on medical ethics, ethics in human research, as well as innovation in healthcare, which will be beneficial for the peoples of both countries.
