On 2 November 2023, H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, was invited to attend the Ceremony to celebrate the historic and inauguration direct flight from Oslo to Bangkok of Norse Atlantic Airways, flight No. N0091. Mr. Bjørn Tore Larsen, CEO, and founder of Norse Atlantic Airways, Mr. Yngve Carlsen, Senior Vice President, Political Affairs, Ms. Christina Carare, Communication Manager, welcomed Ambassador Vimolbajra when she arrived at the Gardermoen Airport. Also attended were Ms. Potchamas Saengthien, Counsellor of the Embassy, Ms. Dorothy-Anne Billett, Acting Airport Director, Mr. Bjørn Tore Larsen, CEO of Norse Atlantic Airways, and Mr. Philip Allport, Senior Vice President, Communications, Norse Atlantic Airways.

Mr. Larsen introduced Ambassador Vimolbajra to the cabin crews of this inauguration flight and gave her a private guided of the aircraft, including the cockpit.

In her remarks, Ambassador Vimolbajra expressed her appreciation to the Norse Atlantic Airways for promoting closer bilateral relations between Thailand and Norway especially people-to-people connectivity which is the essence of the relations between our two countries. This inauguration flight marked a milestone of achievement of the close and cordial friendship between Thailand and Norway. She hoped that the passengers traveling to Bangkok, the capital city of her beautiful and beloved country, Thailand, will enjoy their time in Thailand, encounter great experiences in delicious and authentic Thai food, Thai culture, shopping, and many beautiful places in Thailand. This inaugural flight was also important in facilitating more Thai tourists coming to Norway since Thai people also very much looking forward to seeing the beautiful nature of Norway, especially the Northern Lights and the Midnight Sun.

CEO Mr. Larsen commended the beautiful nature of Thailand, and that Thailand was chosen for the destination since the beginning of the Norse Atlantic flights since Thailand is a popular tourist destination for Norwegians. Now with these direct flights between Olso and Bangkok, he hoped that more Thai tourists would also visit Norway. He was happy to note that it would also promote exchange of goods and products between the two countries, especially bringing Norwegian seafood to Thailand and Thai food to Norway.

At the end of her remarks, Ambassador Vimolbajra expressed her best wishes for the safe journey of all the passengers and those on board to Thailand. Furthermore, she also made particular remarks to the Thai passengers traveling on this plane to be good hosts in welcoming Norwegian and foreign tourists from Norway on this flight to Thailand.

Norse Atlantic Airways was founded in March 2021 and the first flight started in June 2022 from Oslo to New York. Most destinations of Norse Atlantic Airways are in Europe and America; thus, Thailand is the first destination in Asia. At present, Norse Atlantic’s direct flights between Olso and Bangkok operate twice a week on Thursday and Saturday. In December 2023, Norse Atlantic will operate up to three times a week.
