On 10 December 2023, H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, attended the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony at the Oslo City Hall. The Nobel Peace Prize is presented by the chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee in the presence of Their Majesties King Harald V and Queen Sonja, Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, members of the Norwegian government and parliament, including Mr. Jonas Gahr Støre, Prime Minister, Mr. Masud Gharahkhani, President of the Storting, the Cabinet, the diplomatic corps and invited guests.

The 2023 Nobel Peace Prize is awarded to Ms. Narges Mohammadi, Iranian human rights and women’s rights activist who is still held in prison in Iran today. Her 17 year-old twin children, Kiana and Ali Rahmani, received the Nobel Peace Prize Medal and diploma on their mother’s behalf. They both took turn giving Nobel Peace Prize Lecture. Kiana and Ali are being exiled in France. The motto adopted by the demonstrators – “Woman – Life – Freedom” – suitably expresses the dedication and work of Narges Mohammadi.

Since 1901, the Nobel Prizes have been presented to new laureates at ceremonies on 10 December, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel’s death and Human Rights Day. The Nobel Peace Prize is the only Nobel Prize awarded in Norway. The Nobel Prizes in the other fields are awarded in Sweden.
