Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul Organized a Consular Seminar for Thai Consular Volunteers

On 17 June 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul organised a consular seminar for Thai consular volunteers at I-square hotel in Gimhae which was well attended by 17 Thai consular volunteers who have supported the Embassy’s consular work in providing assistance to distressed Thai nationals in the consular district of Honorary Consulate of Thailand in Busan, which covers Busan, Ulsan, Daegu, Gyeongsangnam-do, and Gyeongsangbuk-do. The purposes of the seminar are to introduce Mr. Park Myung-jin, Honorary Consul of Thailand in Busan, to all Thai consular volunteers in the consular district and to inform them of the latest information and updates on the Embassy’s consular services.

During the seminar, Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Minister, and Ms. Menaka Thitasaro, Consul, gave an informative presentation on various consular matters, such as the protection of Thai nationals in the Republic of Korea, legalization and naturalization, application for Thai ID cards and Emergency Travel Documents, the online registration process for passport application, and an overview on consular assistance policies. Mr. Nithiphat Wattanasuwakul, Minister Counsellor for Labour Affairs, also gave an information on labour situation in the Republic of Korea and related measures for foreign workers. The Embassy also invited doctors from Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, to give an information on healthcare practices and the prevention of illnesses frequently found among Thai workers in the Republic of Korea, through Zoom teleconference system.

The seminar reflects the importance that the Embassy has attached to consular work and to the strengthening of the Embassy’s voluntary consular assistance network. It also reiterates the Embassy’s readiness to serve and protect more than 170,000 Thai nationals currently residing in the Republic of Korea to complement Thailand’s people’s diplomacy.
