On 25 June 2026, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, met with Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).

The ESCAP Executive Secretary expressed her condolences on the passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluangrajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita, who made significant contributions to the work of the United Nations in several key areas. She also thanked Thailand for serving as the host country of ESCAP and commended the strong cooperation between the United Nations and Thailand across various areas. The Permanent Secretary reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to supporting the work of ESCAP, which remains important to Thailand and other developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region in advancing sustainable development.

Both sides also exchanged views on strengthening cooperation between Thailand and ESCAP, including preparations for activities to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the establishment of ESCAP in 2027, reform of the United Nations under the UN80 Initiative and its implications for ESCAP, as well as promoting sustainable development within the ASEAN framework, particularly in light of Thailand’s role as the ASEAN Coordinator for Sustainable Development Cooperation.
