Donation Ceremony for Earthquake Relief Funds to areas affected by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake and Tsunami in Ishikawa Prefecture

On 16 February 2024, H.E. Ms. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, witnessed the earthquake relief funds donation ceremony from the Thai private sector to the people of Japan affected by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake and Tsunami in Ishikawa Prefecture, through H.E. Mr. Nashida Kazuya, Ambassador of Japan to Thailand held at the Buakaew Room, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand.

This donation is a collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Thai private sectors. The donation reflects the close bond and solidarity between Thailand and Japan and signifying friendship and goodwill between the two peoples during difficult times.

Representatives from the Thai private sectors who participated at the ceremony included Mr. Sanan Angubolkul, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand, who presented a donation of 1 million Baht on behalf of the Thai Chamber of Commerce Foundation, and Ms. Suporn Wattanavekin, Chairperson of AEON Thailand Foundation and Director of AEON Thana Sinsap (Thailand), who presented a donation of 300,000 Baht on behalf of the AEON Thailand Foundation.

Earlier in January 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo with the support of the Thai and Japanese private sectors, had also donated relief packages for the affected people.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Thai private sectors, and the people of Thailand express heartfelt sympathy to the Japanese people and government and wish for a speedy recovery and reconstruction of the affected area.

This assistance demonstrates the longstanding friendship and compassion between the Thai and Japanese peoples, who support each other in times of need.
