On 4 November 2026, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, held a virtual meeting with H.E. Mr. Grahame Morton, Deputy Secretary of the Americas and Asia Group, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand, and New Zealand’s Senior Official to the East Asia Summit (EAS).
During the meeting, both sides discussed ASEAN–New Zealand cooperation under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, including through the ASEAN-New Zealand Vision Fund, Thailand’s priorities for the 49th ASEAN Summit, the 21st EAS, cooperation in the subregion, and exchanged views on regional and international developments. They also discussed how to advance Thailand–New Zealand bilateral cooperation, following an official visit to New Zealand by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul in August 2026 on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2026.
New Zealand is ASEAN’s second-oldest Dialogue Partner, having established relations with ASEAN in 1975. In 2025, ASEAN and New Zealand celebrated the 50th anniversary of their Dialogue Relations and established a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
