Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs discussed with the Palestine Solidarity Campaign Thailand on ways to enhance relations between Thailand and Palestine

On 13 September 2021, Mr. Darm Boontham, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, had a virtual meeting with a delegation from Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) Thailand, led by Mr. Stuart Ward, President of the PSC Thailand and Lieutenant General (Ret.) Dr. Somchai Virunhaphol, Advisor to the PSC Thailand.

The President of the PSC Thailand informed the meeting of the history of the PSC Thailand as well as its Palestine-related activities. Director-General then gave a background on the Thai -Palestinian relations and discussed Thailand’s technical and development assistance to Palestine through Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA)’s capacity building programmes and Thailand’s collaboration under the Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD). He also reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to helping address the humanitarian needs of Palestine through Thailand’s financial contributions to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Both sides also expressed their readiness to work together in organising activities, including meetings and seminars about Palestine.
