The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs enhanced cooperation with the Swiss Confederation, including promotion of trade and investment, the continued negotiation of Free Trade Agreement between Thailand and EFTA, trilateral cooperation for development in the region, consular cooperation, and the celebration of the 90th anniversary of diplomatic relations, during a courtesy call by the Ambassador of Switzerland to Thailand.
 
On 19 February 2021, Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, welcomed H.E. Mrs. Helene Budliger Artieda, Ambassador of Switzerland to Thailand, during a courtesy call and discussed important areas of cooperation including: (1) trade and investment promotion, where Switzerland supports the continued negotiation of Free Trade Agreement between Thailand and EFTA (Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Iceland); (2) trilateral cooperation for development in the region, in particular human resource development for Myanmar, Lao and Cambodian workforces; (3) consular cooperation, especially the protection of Thai nationals in Switzerland and Swiss nationals in Thailand; and (4) the celebration of the 90th anniversary of diplomatic relations, for which Thailand and Switzerland will jointly organise activities throughout 2021.
