Thailand showcases its film industry at the Red Sea International Film Festival (RSFF)

A Thai delegation led by Mr. Thanawat Sirikul, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Information, participated in the 3rd Edition of the RSFF in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, during 2 - 6 December 2023. The delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Culture, the Thailand Film Office (TFO), Ministry of Tourism & Sports, and the Thai private sector.

The “CONTENT THAILAND” booth had been opened at the Red Sea Souk, the film market of the festival. Mr. Kitinai Nutakul, Consul-General of Thailand in Jeddah, and executives of the Red Sea Souk attended the opening ceremony. The booth attracted many visitors and facilitated discussions on Thai film industry, incentives for filming in Thailand, and the possible projects that could be filmed in Thailand with a total investment value of more than 619 million Baht.

Moreover, the delegation and executives of Be On Cloud Co., Ltd. met with Mr. Mohammed Al Turki, CEO of RSFF to explore ways to promote cooperation on film industries between Thailand and Saudi Arabia. The invitation is also extended for Mr. Al Turki and the private sector in the Middle East to visit Thailand for further collaborations.

The RSFF is one of the leading film festivals in the Middle East and Africa. Thailand participated for the first time. The festival featured a teaser from the Thai movie “Man Suang” and a foreign movie “Three,” which was filmed in Thailand. The participation of Thailand in the festival aimed to introduce Thai film industry and film-related services to the region as well as highlight Thailand as the top destination for filming.
