On 20 October 2026, Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary, met with H.E. Mr. Evgeny Tomikhin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Thailand, to follow up on progress and exchange views on Thailand–Russia relations, including cooperation in multilateral frameworks.

Both sides exchanged views on cooperation within the ASEAN framework, emphasizing the importance of advancing mutually beneficial cooperation between ASEAN and Russia across various dimensions. They also discussed ways to build cooperation and exchanged perspectives on promoting the equal participation of all countries in international organizations, with a view to making the multilateral system inclusive and reflective of the interests of all member states on an equal and fair basis.

They also welcomed the continued positive development of ASEAN–Russia relations, as reflected in a wide range of cooperation activities, particularly the ASEAN-Russia Youth Summit, which is scheduled to be held in Vladivostok, the Russian Federation. The event will serve as a platform to promote exchanges and networking among ASEAN and Russian youth, which will help strengthen mutual understanding and people-to-people ties in the future.
