On 11 September 2026, Ms. Somrudee Poopornanake, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, met with Mrs. Maria Rosa Sabbatelli, Head of Unit for Global Security of the EU’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI), which helps implement the EU’s foreign policy through cooperation projects and initiatives with partner countries by discussing ways to further enhance  dynamic Thailand - EU security cooperation with the aim of supporting the elevation of relations to a strategic level. They were joined by representatives from the National Security Council, Royal Thai Navy, Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Center, the Royal Thai Police (Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, Anti-Cyber Scam Center (ACSC)), and the Anti-Money Laundering Office.

Both sides explored ideas for further security cooperation in fighting online scam, strengthening cybersecurity and maritime security, preventing CBRN threats, and promoting AML-CFT measures. They stressed the need for promoting cross-border collaboration and creating regional impact.

In the morning of the same day, Ms. Sabbatelli and her delegation paid a visit to the Anti-Cyber Scams Center (ACSC) and were briefed on the Center’s role in preventing and combatting cyber-enabled fraud networks and “call center” scam groups. Ms. Sabbatelli commended the role and work of the ACSC, while both sides underscored the importance of cooperation between the two sides to strengthen efforts to prevent, combat and respond to cybercrime.
