On 13 December 2025, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the ROK, presided over a merit-making and commemoration on the occasion of remembrance of the Sacrifice of Thai soldiers during the Korean War at Buddharangsee Temple, Gyeonggi Province. Ms. Sherilyn Eun, a representative of the Thai community in the ROK, organized the ceremony.
On this occasion, the Ambassador addressed approximately 500 members of the Thai community who attended the event, highlighting the following key points:
1. Paying tribute to the Thai soldiers who served in the Korean War. On 12 December 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy, in cooperation with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs of the ROK and the UN Memorial Cemetery in Korea (UNMCK), organized an interment ceremony for the ashes of Reserve Sergeant (Navy) Manoch Pummaneekorn and Private Narong Yeamniyom, Thai war veterans of the Korean War, at UNMCK in Busan. On this occasion, the family of Reserve Sergeant (Navy) Manoch Pummaneekorn, was also present at the ceremony.
2. Overseas voting for the upcoming general election, which is expected to take place in January 2026. The Ambassador encouraged members of the Thai community in the ROK to register and exercise their right to vote.
3. Strengthening the Thai community in the ROK, with representatives from various Thai organizations in attendance, including the Nuad Thai Volunteer Association of the ROK, the Thai Students Association in the ROK, the Thai Friendship Center in Gimhae, the Thai Women’s Council of the ROK, and the Thai Cultural Council of the ROK.
4. Thailand–Cambodia relations. The Ambassador called upon the Thai community to maintain peace and to avoid any potential confrontation with Cambodian individuals or communities, as such actions would be of no benefit to any party.
The event also featured more than 73 charitable food stalls organized by members of the Thai community in the ROK. This initiative reflected the unity, solidarity, and strong spirit of cooperation among Thais living abroad, while further reinforcing the strength and cohesion of the Thai community in the ROK in a sustainable manner.
