On 12 May 2025, Mr. Narut Soontarodom, Consul General of Thailand in Siem Reap, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Kim Rithy, Governor of Preah Vihear Province, on the occasion of assuming his duties. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Governor and provincial officials, as well as officials from the Royal Thai Consulate-General.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral relations between Thailand and Cambodia at the provincial level. They discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the border areas between Preah Vihear Province and the Thai provinces of Ubon Ratchathani and Sisaket, with a view to promoting development and cross-border trade for the mutual benefit of the peoples on both sides. The discussions also touched on the facilitation of border crossings, promoting cultural exchanges, and enhancing people-to-people ties, as part of the ongoing efforts to foster mutual understanding and long-lasting friendship between the two countries.
