On 18 August 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm, in collaboration with the Chulada Choir of Chulalongkorn University Demonstration Secondary School, organised a concert at Sofia Church in Stockholm to promote Thai soft power and culture through music and to strengthen people-to-people ties and cultural exchange between Thailand and Sweden.

On this occasion, Ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys delivered opening remarks, stressing the role of music as a universal language that brings people from different cultures together, as well as the importance of cultural exchange and people-to-people ties as an integral part of the Strategic Partnership between Thailand and Sweden.

The event was attended by Mr Olle Burell, President of the Stockholm City Council;

H.E. Dr Siniša Grgić, Ambassador of Croatia to Sweden and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Stockholm; members of the diplomatic corps; members of the International Women’s Club; representatives of organisations and friends of Thailand; and members of the Thai community in Sweden. The Chulada Choir presented a diverse repertoire of international choral works and Thai compositions arranged for choral performance, reflecting a smooth encounter between cultures through the language of music.

The Chulada Choir travelled to Sweden to participate in the 14th World Choir Games, held in Helsingborg from 6 to 16 August 2026, where it brought pride to Thailand by winning a Gold Medal in the Youth Choirs of Equal Voices category and a Silver Medal in the Sacred Choral Music a Cappella category. This marked the first time that a secondary school choir from Thailand had won a Gold Medal at the World Choir Games, one of the world’s leading international choral competitions.

Earlier that day, prior to the concert, Ambassador Arunrung hosted a luncheon for the Chulada Choir at the Ambassador’s Residence to congratulate on the Choir’s achievements at the World Choir Games and to encourage the young performers in their role in promoting Thai arts and culture and bringing recognition to Thailand internationally.
