On 26 February 2026, Commissioner Anders Wiberg, Head of International Division, the National Police together with Senior Adviser Anders Bjärgård, Diplomatic Affairs paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mrs. Arunrung Phothong Humphreys, Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden on the occasion of his assumption of duties. Also in attendance was Ms. Nattamon Punbhochar, Counsellor/Consul, at the premises of the Embassy.
Both sides exchanged views on recent developments relating to transnational organised crime in Europe, particularly in Sweden, as well as on international law enforcement cooperation. In this connection, the Swedish side noted that Sweden has continuously appointed a Police Attaché to Thailand since 1975 in order to promote bilateral security cooperation. The discussion further covered emerging trends in crime in the digital era, especially online fraud, which remains a pressing challenge faced by many countries today.
The Ambassador reiterated Thailand’s firm commitment to addressing online crime as a national priority in recent years, particularly through enhanced cooperation in tackling issues along Thailand’s border areas, as well as through strengthened cyber security measures. Both sides agreed on the importance of further enhancing security cooperation and deepening intelligence-sharing in order to respond effectively to evolving threats.
