The Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs discussed on bilateral and ASEAN – Canada relations, promoting cooperation on Covid-19 response, and activities to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Thailand-Canada diplomatic relations, during a phone conversation with Assistant Deputy Minister (Asia-Pacific), Global Affairs Canada.

On 16 February 2021, Mr. Dusit Manapan, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, had a phone conversation with Mr. Paul Thoppil, Assistant Deputy Minister (Asia-Pacific), Global Affairs Canada, to discuss ways to further advance multi-faceted bilateral cooperation, including various activities to be jointly organised to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Thailand-Canada diplomatic relations.

Both sides discussed on promoting ASEAN-Canada cooperation in the areas of political-security, economic, and women empowerment, in which the Thai Deputy Permanent Secretary commended Canada’s active and constructive role in engaging with ASEAN. The Canadian Assistant Deputy Minister also commended the Thai Government’s success in handling the COVID-19 pandemic and expressed readiness to further cooperate with Thailand on this matter. Both sides also exchanged views on key situations and developments in the region.
