On 29 October 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Mrs. Luisa Ragher, Ambassador of the European Union to Thailand, and Ambassadors of EU Member States to Thailand. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on Thailand-EU relations, as well as regional and global developments.

Both sides welcomed the dynamism and continued progress in Thailand-EU relations and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation across all areas in response to an increasingly evolving geopolitical landscape. The Deputy Prime Minister underscored the importance of further strengthening Thailand-EU relations within the framework of their Strategic Partnership. Such a partnership would not only advance shared interests, including the pursuit of strategic autonomy, but also strengthen cooperation at both the regional and global levels. At the regional level, particular emphasis would be placed on cooperation within the ASEAN framework, where Thailand has consistently supported closer engagement between ASEAN and the EU.

Both sides also agreed to further deepen their comprehensive cooperation across a broad range of areas of mutual interest. These include security and defence, the timely conclusion of the Thailand-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), combating online fraud, promoting sustainability standards, advancing human rights and good governance, supporting Thailand’s accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and strengthening cooperation within ASEAN - particularly in economic integration, quality connectivity, and energy security. At the global level, both sides underscored the importance of working together to uphold freedom of navigation, promote sustainable infrastructure development, and advance a rules-based international order and effective multilateral cooperation.

Building on strong dynamism and shared commitment, both sides expressed their readiness to work towards a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Thailand and the European Union, with a view to marking this important milestone on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the EU in 2027.
