An In-kind Donation Agreement was reached on the donation of 2,000 units of Casirivimab/Imdevimab from the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Royal Thai Government for effective treatment of COVID-19 patients. The donation is part of Germany’s humanitarian support for Thailand which is facing challenges in curbing the COVID-19 pandemic.

The donation highlights the long-standing ties of friendship between Thailand and Germany dating back to the Treaty of Amity, Commerce and Navigation signed between Siam and Prussia on 7 February 1862. Today, the historic ties have blossomed into the unique and dynamic cooperation covering extensive areas of mutual interest including public health. At the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak last year, both sides supported each other in regard to the facilitation of humanitarian repatriation flights. The joint operations signified unified efforts both at the government and people-to-people levels.

As both countries are preparing to commemorate the 160th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in the year 2022, Thailand looks forwards to joining hands more firmly with Germany to achieve an even stronger and full-fledged partnership.
