On 12 March 2026, Mrs. Waraphannee Damrongmanee, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs, together with Mr. Phichet Tongpan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, jointly welcomed the safe return of 34 Thai nationals, most of whom are Thai workers, evacuated from Iran and travelled through Türkiye to Thailand at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Also arriving with this group was Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs, who travelled to support the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara at the Evacuation Operations Center for Thai nationals from Iran, which has been established as both a temporary shelter for Thai citizens and a temporary office of the Royal Thai Embassy in Tehran, located in Van, Türkiye.

 

The Deputy Director-General expressed appreciation to all agencies concerned, including Turkish authorities and the Turkish Airlines, in facilitating the evacuation and return of the Thai nationals. She also announced that another group of 30 Thai nationals evacuated from Iran via Türkiye will arrive in Thailand on the following day (13 March 2026).

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies have closely coordinated efforts to facilitate the evacuation and provide assistance to ensure the safe return of Thai nationals. The government places the safety and well-being of Thai nationals overseas as its highest priority.
