On 25 September 2025, Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, co-chaired the 3rd Thailand - Latvia Political Consultations with Ms. Katarina Platere, Director-General of Bilateral Relations Directorate of Latvia, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia in Riga.

Both sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation, particularly in the fields of education, innovation, medicine, defence technology, and people-to-people relations. They also exchanged views on regional and global issues, including the situations in Ukraine, developments in ASEAN and the Indo-Pacific region, as well as Thailand - Cambodia border situation.

They also discussed opportunities to expand trade and investment, including a timely conclusion of the Thailand - EU FTA negotiations, Latvia’s support for Thailand’s accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the waiver of visa requirements for Thai ordinary passport holders entering the Schengen area.
